Hi, I’m Robyn — the maker behind Flora & Fauna Pottery.

What started with a high school pottery class many years ago eventually found its way back into my life, and this time it stuck. After returning to clay through a few local classes, I quickly fell in love with the process all over again. What began as a creative outlet has grown into Flora & Fauna Pottery, a small-batch pottery business inspired by the natural world around me.

Nature is at the heart of almost everything I make. I’m an avid gardener, a lover of wildflowers, forests, wildlife and all the little details found outdoors, and those influences tend to find their way onto my work. My pieces are made to be useful, but I also want them to feel a little special — the kind of mug you reach for first in the cupboard.

Every piece is made by me in my home studio in Prince George, British Columbia. I throw, trim, decorate, glaze, fire and finish each piece myself, usually in small batches. Because Flora & Fauna is also something I run alongside my full-time career, I make what I can, when I can, rather than producing on a large scale. That means collections are limited, designs change throughout the seasons, and no two pieces are ever quite identical.

My partner Tony is often behind the scenes helping with the less glamorous parts of running a pottery business and generally making it possible for me to spend more time in the studio.

I’ve lived in northern British Columbia my whole life and feel incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by the landscapes and wildlife that inspire so much of my work. I live and create on the traditional and unceded territory of the Lheidli T’enneh.
